The Stable House has always been a home that has welcomed others to visit, either as part of a structured community event, or just to come and enjoy the grounds. It is seen by many as a "safe place"; a place to retreat from the busy-ness of life, to rest, relax and be restored.
The Stable House is nested in the Leicestershire countryside, easily accessed just a short drive from the M1 motorway.
In 1970 the building was converted into the unique family home it is today. It is set in 20 acres of grazing and woodland; there is a separate 3 bed cottage (The Gate House), being renovated in early 2021, as well as a wooden stable-yard and barn, now converted into The Stable Barn and The Stable Studios.
A walk across the gardens and paddocks brings you to the Victorian Kitchen Garden and woodland (8 acres) with greenhouses and outbuildings which we are slowly restoring. The 2020 Lockdown and need to close the property to guests, gave us a lot of time to dig up parts of the Kitchen Garden and start planting vegetables.
We also have pigs helping us out by rootling the ground in readiness for potatoes. There is also a horse ménage and a tree house, and plenty of places to walk and explore, as well as a Barista run Coffee Club, donations from which go to support an orphanage in Burkina Faso, West Africa.
A beautiful setting surrounded by wonderful countryside and buildings ... loved the view from the kitchen into the beautiful garden stretching down to fields. The interior of the house was very well-appointed, spacious, comfortable and the furnishings and decor are tasteful and of good quality ... this is a wonderful place and wished our visit was much longer
